Costume Competition- Eligibility: All I-Con attendees are
eligible to enter the costume competition. Costumes may or may not be your own creation, but store-bought costumes are not eligible for craftsmanship awards. Any costume entered in the stage costume competition is not eligible for the hall costume competition, and vice versa.
Schedule of Events:
Friday: 3:00pm - Entry forms available & questions answered at the registration desk. Saturday: 9:00am - Entry forms available & questions answered at the registration desk.
Sunday: 4:00 P.M. Participant Call 4:30 P.M. House Opens 5:00 P.M. On with the show! Introduction: You are allotted the option of scripting a narration for the MC. The narration will be read prior to your entry. Narrations must be limited to 45 words or less. Costumes: Safety: The safety of you and your costume is your responsibility at all times. If you have limited movement or vision, or any other safety concerns, please tell the staff right away. You are not allowed to throw anything from the stage,
leave the performing area, or leave anything on stage. Weapons: No live steel. Period. Other sharp weapons must be piece bonded. If you must
use a blunt weapon in your performance, please do so with extreme caution and never use in a way that might accidentally hurt someone. No live firearms. If you must use a gun or other projectile for your presentation, use an obvious fake. NO projectile weapon able to shoot more than a suction cup dart or a foam ball will be allowed on stage. If you must "shoot" someone in your presentation, please "fire" at the ceiling or off-stage where no one is standing. Presentations You may choose to do either a walk-on entry or a short presentation. If you prefer to do a presentation, please note the following: Microphones:
I-Con has no microphones for on-stage use. We encourage you to record your dialogue so that it is audible to others. Sound: We require that all presentations that require music supply said music themselves. All music/recorded dialogue must be submitted in
CD format by the end of the registration on Saturday. Appropriateness: I-Con is an all-ages convention. Please keep skit content appropriate. When in doubt, ask. Effects: We are unable to do special lighting effects. Also, no fire or smoke effects will be allowed. NO SUPRISES: The Competition staff needs to know exactly what's going
to happen on stage. Don't worry, we'll keep your secrets for you. Also, the legal responsibility for a presentation's content lies solely with the entrant(s). We reserve the right to disallow any presentation that we consider unsafe or unsuitable to a public setting. Regarding Minors: The Costume Competition is open for costumers of any age. For legal reasons, we require the permission of a legal guardian for the minor to participate. We allow parents backstage with participants aged 14 and under. This is not required, but recommended for costumers aged 12 and under. Hall Costuming- Eligibility: All I-Con attendees are eligible to enter the hall costume competition. A
single costume may be entered only once over the weekend. An attendee may enter the hall costume competition any number of times over the weekend. Any costume entered into the hall costume competition is not eligible for the stage costume competition, and vice versa. Schedule of Events: Entry forms will be made available at the registration desk at the times listed below. We will have a camera to photograph you during this time as well. Friday: (3:00pm – 11:00pm) Saturday: (11:00am – 11:00pm) Winners will be announced during the On-Stage Costume Competition. |
